With a soft, smooth consistency, these pastels are perfect for a variety of drawing techniques including blending, layering, crosshatching, stippling, flat edge shading, and stencilling.

Ideal for adding depth and contrast, these charcoal-toned pastels offer excellent coverage and can be blended easily using a finger, brush or blending stump. They are fade-resistant and work best on lightly textured pastel paper or card, allowing for better adhesion and vibrancy. Their square shape ensures they stay in place during use and provide precise edges for detail work.

Students and artists can enhance existing charcoal or pencil sketches, or use these sticks alone to explore light and form through monochromatic compositions. Pair with a workable fixative spray to lock in layers or allow for rework. These soft pastels bring versatility and dimension to any creative space or art classroom.

Educational Benefits

Promotes Tonal Awareness - Ideal for light and shadow studies in art.

Encourages Textural Techniques - Supports learning in blending, layering and contrast.

Enhances Drawing Fundamentals - Great for mastering form, structure and detail.

Boosts Visual Communication - Allows focus on shape and value without colour distraction.

Classroom Ideas

Create charcoal still life compositions - Emphasise form and depth using only charcoal tones.

Practice shading scales - Explore tonal variation from light to dark using a single hue.

Add contrast to existing sketches - Layer over pencil drawings for dimension.

Design architectural sketches - Use pastel blocks for shading and detailing structural forms.

Product Specifications

Contents: 12 charcoal soft pastels

Stick Size: 6.6(L) x 1(W)cm

Shape: Square - ideal for detail and prevents rolling

Texture: Soft and smooth for easy application

Surface Compatibility: Best on textured pastel paper or card

Blendable With: Fingers, brushes, or pencil stumps

Fixative Use: Suitable for use with workable fixative sprays

Safety: Non-toxic and fade-resistant

Pack Size: 12

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0626/7633/6753/files/mun009_mungyo-soft-pastels-charcoal-box-of-12_v1_1.webp?v=1760001530
