These pastels feature a smooth and soft consistency, making them ideal for techniques such as blending, layering, stippling, crosshatching, stencilling, and flat edge shading.

These fade-resistant soft pastels deliver consistent colour coverage, and can be easily blended with a finger, brush or blending tool. Their ability to layer and blend enables users to create depth, shadows, and smooth transitions in value. The square shape ensures they remain in place on the work surface and offer clean, fine edges for detailed application.

Perfect for tonal studies, these greys are an excellent introduction to value, light and shadow work in both artistic and educational settings. Use over charcoal or pencil drawings for contrast and depth, or pair with other pastel sets for extended range. For best results, apply on slightly textured pastel paper or card, and use a workable fixative spray to preserve or build up artwork layers.

Educational Benefits

Enhances Understanding of Tonal Values - Supports light/dark studies in drawing.

Introduces Monochromatic Colour Theory - Teaches composition using limited colour palettes.

Improves Blending and Shading Skills - Ideal for developing gradient and layering techniques.

Encourages Focus on Form and Structure - Guides students to observe shape without colour distractions.

Classroom Ideas

Conduct value scale exercises - Practice tonal gradation using only greys.

Sketch still-life compositions - Create monochrome studies of real objects.

Add depth to charcoal drawings - Blend grey pastels to highlight or soften areas.

Use in portrait sketching - Emphasise shadows, contours, and facial structure.

Product Specifications

Contents: 12 grey tone soft pastels

Stick Size: 6.6(L) x 1(W)cm

Shape: Square - prevents rolling, ideal for fine lines and edges

Finish: Smooth application with consistent pigment

Use With: Textured pastel paper or card

Blendable With: Fingers, brushes, or blending stumps

Fixative Use: Suitable for use with workable fixative sprays

Safety: Non-toxic and fade-resistant

Pack Size: 12

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0626/7633/6753/files/mun008_mungyo-soft-pastels-grey-tone-box-of-12_v1_1.webp?v=1760001528
