Providing adequate storage in any learning environment is essential. Open storage shelves encourages agency in students and children as they are able to pick and choose their own toys and resources. A classroom with quality storage options supports a comfortable learning environment as all resources can be easily stored away when not in use. Early childhood, primary school and high school classrooms all require functional storage solutions that provide easy access to a select range of resources. These trays are excellent for STEM spaces, literacy, maths, stationary and art and craft.

To clean this Gratnells tray along with the other Gratnell’s trays we recommend warm water and a standard household soap or detergent (for dishes for example). First rinse the tray clear of debris then clean the tray with a soft sponge or cloth and the soap mixture, rinse and dry with clean paper towel or air dry. Avoid bleach if possible. Bleach can have a detrimental oxidising effect on PP. It generally shows excellent resistance to many chemicals but it doesn’t like strong oxidising agents. On prolonged contact bleach can begin to break down / dissolve the PP used in the Gratnells tray, or over time, with repeated brief contact, weaken the PP which can decrease strength and cause cracking. When bleach is dissolved in cold water at a ratio of 10 (water) / 1 (bleach), these effects are greatly reduced particularly if contact is brief. However, the tray should always be thoroughly rinsed to remove traces of bleach after cleaning. One other thing to note is that translucent trays may become cloudy in appearance as a result of repeated cleaning with bleach solutions. Alternatives to standard bleach: Polypropylene shows excellent resistance to hydrogen peroxide, particularly at concentrations under 10%* so a diluted, liquid detergent non-chlorine bleach would be a good alternative disinfectant to standard household / general bleach. At concentrations under 3%, there is unlikely to be any long term discolouration.
