The littleBits micro:bit Adapter W34 is a modular interface that lets you connect littleBits circuits to a micro:bit controller — it maps littleBits input/output “bitsnaps” to the micro:bit’s edge-connector pins to enable coding via MakeCode or Python.

Why this product is helpful

  • Extends littleBits with programming — students can take physical electronic inventions and control them with real code using the micro:bit Adapter, blending circuitry and coding.
  • No extra libraries needed — it works by directly connecting bit signals to micro:bit pins (e.g. P0, P1, P2, P13, P14, P15), so students can begin coding without complex setup.
  • Versatile and compatible — can be attached to littleBits mounting boards or robots (e.g. Sphero RVR) to expand the scope of student inventions.

Classroom Ideas

  • Game Spinner Project
Use lesson plans that let students build a littleBits-powered spinner, and programme it via micro:bit to spin for random durations, display results or trigger outputs.
  • Obstacle-Avoiding Robot Challenge
Connect littleBits sensors to the micro:bit Adapter and mount on a robot (e.g. RVR). Let students code autonomous navigation so the robot avoids obstacles.
  • Light-Seeking Sunflower
Students build circuits with a light sensor and servo using the micro:bit Adapter and programme it to orient toward brighter areas.
  • Rock–Paper–Scissors Circuit
Design a littleBits circuit for “Rock, Paper, Scissors” and program the micro:bit to randomly select one and display or activate output bits accordingly.
  • Analogue vs Digital Signal Exploration
Use the Adapter to teach how analog and digital signals map between littleBits and micro:bit, letting students experiment with sensors and outputs.
