Timber Maintenance Guide

1. Cleaning: Clean your outdoor walkboards several times a year using an outdoor wood furniture cleaner. Remove cobwebs, leaves, or dirt before cleaning and dry thoroughly in the sun. Do not use a high-pressure washer.
2. Sanding & Oiling: Sand and oil your walkboards as required throughout the year. Weather conditions will affect wear rates. Using a natural furniture oil will help maintain the timber's colour and moisture. Follow the manufacturer's directions for oiling; usually, only a light sand is needed.
3. Drying After Wetness: If your outdoor walkboards get wet, dry them out in the sun to help prevent mould and wood rot.
4. Storage: For best longevity, keep your outdoor walkboards undercover or cover them when not in use. Keeping them under a roof, out of direct weather and sun, will maximise their lifespan.
5. Hardware Checks: The hardware can become loose over time, so we recommend checking it throughout the year to keep the walkboards strong and in optimal working condition.

These ladders are suitable for outdoor use. However as with all timber, the weather will wear the wood. You may even notice a few small cracks which is not a structural defect, but a perfectly natural process, as the wood expands and contracts, adjusting to the elements. Following the above guide on a regular basis will help to maintain the beauty, integrity and strength of the timber and allows you to get the most enjoyment from your ladder.
