This cleated plank, crafted from structural pine and measuring 180 (L) x 24 (W) x 5 (H) cm, is a versatile and engaging addition to any play space. It features 5 wooden cleats and comes equipped with rubber cleats with hook and loop straps. These innovative rubber cleats are designed to provide a snug and secure fit, significantly enhancing the stability of the plank during active play. Unlike traditional metal connections, the soft rubber material protects your trestles from chips and scratches, thereby prolonging their lifespan and maintaining their aesthetic appeal. This thoughtful design ensures a safer and more durable play experience for children. Walkboard only. Trestles not included.

Why the Cleated Plank is helpful:

  • Enhanced Stability: The rubber cleats and hook and loop straps provide a secure and stable connection, reducing movement during play.
  • Trestle Protection: The soft rubber cleats prevent damage to metal trestles, extending their life and keeping them looking new.
  • Versatile Play: Can be used in various configurations with trestles (sold separately) to encourage creative and active play.
  • Durable Construction: Made from structural pine, designed to withstand the rigours of active use

Things to consider when purchasing the wooden walkboard:

  • Trestles Sold Separately: This product includes the cleated plank and its rubber cleats only; trestles for support are not included and must be purchased separately.
  • Timber Care: As a natural timber product, occasional application of appropriate timber care products like oil or a suitable wooden decking treatment every six months is recommended to prolong its life and maintain its appearance. Refer to the Timber Maintenance Guide below.
  • Outdoor Exposure: Prolonged exposure to outdoor elements may cause the timber board to change shape over time. Store in a sheltered area when not in use for optimal longevity.
  • Soft Fall Recommendation: For enhanced safety during play, especially when used at height, it is recommended to have appropriate soft fall surfacing beneath and around the play area.
  • Age Suitability: This cleated plank is suitable for children aged 3+ years.

Timber Maintenance Guide

  1. We recommend to clean your outdoor walkboard several times a year. We suggest to use an outdoor wood furniture cleaner and follow their instructions. Also remove any cobwebs, leaves or dirt before cleaning and dry thoroughly in the sun after cleaning. We don't recommend a high pressure washer.
  2. We recommend to sand and oil your walkboard as required throughout the year. The weather will deteriorate timber so the location of the walkboard and the weather such as rain and humidity will wear timber at different rates. Using a natural furniture oil will help to maintain the beautiful colour of the timber and hold the necessary moisture in the wood. Please follow the manufacturer's directions for oiling. Usually only a light sand is needed.
  3. If your outdoor walkboard gets wet, we suggest that you dry them out in the sun. This will help to prevent mould and wood rot.
  4. For best longevity of your outdoor walkboard we also suggest that you keep them undercover or cover them when not in use. If the walkboard can be kept under a roof out of direct weather and sun, it will help to make the most out of your walkboard.
  5. The hardware can become loose over time, so we recommend that you check the hardware throughout the year. This will help to keep the walkboard strong and in the best working condition.

These walkboard are suitable for outdoor use. However as with all timber, the weather will wear the wood. You may even notice a few small cracks which is not a structural defect, but a perfectly natural process, as the wood expands and contracts, adjusting to the elements. Following the above guide on a regular basis will help to maintain the beauty, integrity and strength of the timber and allows you to get the most enjoyment from your walkboard.
