This multiple surface ramp kit is a great classroom resource for Science investigations on forces, motion and friction. The two double sided ramps feature four different surfaces: - Plain Wood - Foam - Carpet Underlay - Sandpaper The stand enables the ramp to be adjusted to five different heights enabling pupils to change the angle of the slope. Robust and sturdy, the stand will not tip over and its compact design makes the ramp kit easy to store. The ramp measures approx 70cm x 18cm. Ramp Challenge - Can you defy the laws of gravity? 'WOW' your pupils and challenge them to get a simple round biscuit tin rolling up the ramp, instead of down it! By placing a large weight or lump of plasticine in a simple round biscuit tin, you are able to get the tin to move up the ramp rather than down it, providing the weight is positioned at the top of the tin when placed on the ramp. By marking the position of the weight on the outside of the rim, you will know where the weight is when the tin is shut. Simply place the tin on the ramp and watch in amazement as the tin rolls up the ramp, rather than down it! Ask the children to predict why the tin is defying the laws of gravity? Is it a magnet? Could it be the school hamster?
